On Thursday, Hendon 1 beat Harrow 1 for the second time this season, conceding just a single draw in a comprehensive home victory!
At the same time, Hendon 4 were significantly outclassed by Hammersmith 3, though young Gautam Sriram scored an excellent win on Board 1.
We had high hopes of victory in the first-team match, as Harrow defaulted a board and we had significant rating advantages on boards 2–5.
There was danger on Board 1, as Harrow were represented by wunderkind Bodhana Sivanandan, but Rob was able to get a very strong position at an early stage, and while his young opponent tried some tricks in time trouble, Rob held firm to push a pawn through and clinch the full point. Harrow’s only half-point came on Board 2, where Nevil Chan made a draw against Tomer Eden.

Another fine win for Hendon 1, who have now won four in a row, though sterner tests are to come.
The other match was unfortunately almost as one-sided in the opposite direction, with Hammersmith 3 bringing a decent team, though Gautam Sriram can be very proud of his victory with Black over an opponent rated almost 1900!
