The Hendon Rapid League has launched!

Wednesday 13th September saw the successful launch of the Hendon Rapid League. Play was relaxed but competitive, with plenty of time for socialising. Thanks to Andrew’s excellent article on the club website, several of us have now learnt how to set the clocks to the required 15+10 time control! The early leader is our very own club Chairman, Chris, hotly pursued by new member Sundip.

Provisional standings are below. However, I may have missed some results, so please let me know if you have additional games needing to be added (or any other mistakes). Proceedings were a little less structured than I imagined (which was fine!), so I will fix teething problems for the future.

A reminder that the scoring system is 4 for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss, plus a bonus point for attending a social chess evening when there is nothing else on. I had envisaged only a player’s top 6 results would count but I may adjust this as more games were played in the evening than I anticipated.

A reminder that social chess, including games counting for the Rapid League, will be available next week (returning to the usual Thursday). There will be a league match on, too, so games will need to be played quietly; however, socialising and the discussion of games (and anything else) can take place at the bar downstairs.
