Match report by Michael Bennett

The Tigers gave the Lions a scare last night, as they nearly overcame a 25 point grading disadvantage! The final result was 4.5-3.5 to the Lions, but it could have been closer.

Games in brief:

  • John and Dan drew a fascinating stuggle in a Classical Dutch, which ended in perpetual check
  • Tim had a huge bind on the position, but at the end chose a move which allowed a perpetual, instead of one which won
  • Duncan’s Hendon debut resulted in a rare loss for Cristian in an Advance French!
  • Paul looked to have an attack, but Tomer seemed to always something in hand (as he usually does in those kind of positions)
  • I exploited dark square weaknesses to reach a winning rook ending
  • Salvatore missed a win at the end, but all credit to his young opponent for holding the draw
  • Oren played a solid game to win the exchange and beat David
  • Chris won on the black side on a Modern/KID

This result leaves the Lions with a healthy 2/2, but they will have to make up the valuable game points that have been dropped.

The Tigers have 1/3 match points, but will be looking to increase that tally in their pre-Christmas matches.
