On the 3rd Feb Hendon met a strong Muswell Hill side at home, with all of our boards being outrated by 100–250 points.
Ethan Sanitt on board 1 drew Mike Healey after a sharp opening battle in the English, whilst I managed to capitalise on an endgame blunder by my opponent in time pressure (see below).
Elliott found an enterprising idea in an open Catalan but couldn’t quite regain the pawn, going down in an ending after putting up strong resistance. Boards 4–6 followed a similar trajectory, ending in a 1½–4½ defeat.
