Three lead after Round 3

Round 3 of the Hendon Club Championship took place last night, on a day which saw record-breaking temperatures in London. The action hotted up on the board as well: of the seven players who led after Round 2, Gautam Jain, Saniru Atulugamage and Ilya Vorozhtsov won, so those three are now the tournament leaders on 3/3.

The chasing pack on 2½/3 now consists of Sanne De Boer, Andrey Kovalenko, Robert Alster and Rohan Theo Barbier-Ramaiah, who all won, and Elliott Macneil, who had a bye.

It was a good night for the White pieces, with 14 of the 20 games being won by the first player, including all the top six boards!

The tournament now takes a one-week break, with the July Blitz taking place next week. See you on 9th July for Round 4!
