Round 2 of our Club Championship took place on Thursday night. Five players managed to pick up their second full point, meaning we now have a much smaller leading pack!
The higher-rated players won on the three top boards. They were joined at the top by Thirukumaran Ramasamy, who beat a higher-rated opponent on Board 6, and by Andreas Bohnacker, who is currently unrated but is on course to have a very decent rating when this tournament is over!
There were a few upsets this week, with Ilya Art Vorozhtsov, Krish V and Stanley Jacobs winning, and Nick Goulbourne, Marcus Gordon and Ronak Bansal taking half points, from higher-rated opponents.
It was also good to see several new entries into the tournament this round, bringing the total number of participants to 39. It’s still not too late to enter if you haven’t already: please see this page for full details.
Our regular arbiters Adam and Lance were engaged elsewhere this week, so we’d like to thank everyone who helped us keep the round running smoothly, by helping with setting up and clearing away!
