David Amior retains Championship lead

On Thursday, the fourth round of our Club Championship took place. David Amior kept himself in the sole lead on 4/4 by defeating Armaan Nilim with the White pieces.

Both Lion Lebedev and I won our games, so the two of us are in joint second place on 3½/4 going into next Thursday’s fifth round, with Salvatore Pepe, David Ben-Nathan and Rob Willmoth half a point behind.

I’d like to remind all tournament participants that if you are not intending to play in a particular round of the Club Championship (or if you wish to withdraw from the tournament), you should please inform the arbiters as early as possible.

Ideally this should be done no later than 11pm the day before the round, as this ensures you are not paired with an opponent and allows the arbiters to give everyone else the best possible pairings.

However, even if you need to withdraw after that point, you should still inform the arbiters as soon as you can, as this allows them to organise re-pairings (as happened with Daniel and myself this round) or, in the worst case, to inform your opponent that they need not attend.

This courtesy ensures nobody has a wasted journey to the venue expecting to play against someone who does not turn up. Many thanks!
