Ocelots captain Andrew Medworth reports:
“I’m delighted to report that Hendon 4 convincingly bounced back from last week’s home defeat to Harrow with an 8-0 victory over Muswell Hill 2!
The Muswell Hill team was significantly below their normal strength: their captain announced two defaults prior to the match, and we heavily outgraded them on all six remaining boards except for Board 1.
But even against a weaker side, chess games don’t win themselves, and every single Hendon player did the business and brought home a vital home win! I’m particularly pleased for Jason, who overcame a very strong opponent on top board to complete the clean sweep.
Well done everyone! This just goes to show that it’s possible for everything to go right at once, as well as for everything to go wrong! I know it wasn’t the most competitive match for most of you, but those precious 8 game points were just what we needed, and could prove vital at the end of the season.
After a very busy November, we have a few weeks now without a Hendon 4 match. Our last match of 2018 will be the second of the two internal matches against Hendon 3 on 20th December. Since it’s just before Christmas, we’ll be sending out a call for players for that quite soon, so please keep an eye out.”
