Hendon Blitz Tournament - 7th January 2010
31 players defied the snowy weather to compete in the regular Hendon Chess Club ‘First Thursday’ blitz tournament. There were two International Masters, plenty of new visitors from other clubs, and some first-timers, so we must be doing something right.
Malcolm Pein, International Master, owner of the Chess & Bridge Shop and organiser of the recent London Chess Classic took the first prize with 5.5/6, surviving a lost position against Jonathan Rona.
Newcomer Peirisgayan from Sri Lanka, now studying in London, shows great promise and will no doubt be a regular on the tournament circuit. Congratulations to Tim Rogers on being the best Hendon player!
The next event is the Golders Green Rapidplay this Saturday.
