Hendon Blitz Tournament - 5th February 2009
On an icy evening in February, Hendon Blitz Tournament was won jointly by Hendon’s top board Cristian Mures and – the surprise of the tournament – 13-year-old Frank Sabin, who plays for both Hendon and Barnet Knights.
Frank’s games included wins against Cristian – using a neat back-rank tactic to net a whole queen – and Salvatore Pepe.
Blitz regular Shane McCabe came third, and the prize for Hendon’s top player went to Liviu Enciu.
